Pharmacokinetics Well absorbed from the GI tract. Protein binding 25%. Widely distributed. Primarily excreted unchanged in urine. Moderately removed by hemodialysis. Ceftiofur and its active metabolite desfuroylceftiofur distribute differently to the other cephalosporins because of their high degree of protein binding.
