Preparative centrifugation

Use a cooling water spray on the rotor (because heating of the cell by the centrifuge motor can be a serious source of error) for runs longer than 5 min irj > 10 Pa s), and allow the water to drain from the bottom of the centrifuge. Prepare a water-drip cell and receptacle (Fig. 3.52). Record the temperature of the cell and rotor before and after each run (these values must remain within 2°C of room temperature).
