It may be difficult to locate a cell with a microsphere attached on the desired portion of the cell. However, as the cells crawls, it will pick up beads that are on the substrate. Therefore, choosing a cell and recording it for a long period of time, rather than looking for a cell with perfect microsphere positioning, increases the probability of capturing the microsphere in the desirable position on the cell body. [Pg.469]

Filter assays have been very popular for identifying soluble compounds that stimulate locomotion (reviewed in [424, 426]).
