Catecholamines description

Description Catecholamine is the name of a group of compounds that contain a catechol nucleus (a benzene ring with two adjacent hydroxyl substituents) and an amine group. This group includes the mammalian neurotransmitters or hormones, such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, and nonmammalian compounds such as octopa-mine. Each compound has its own synonyms. Representative Chemical Dopamine Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number CAS 51-61-6... [Pg.487]

The EIDOS and DoTS descriptions of takotsubo cardiomyopathy due to catecholamines are shown in Figure 1. [Pg.233]

Actions of angiotensin are mimetic of the motor actions of either acetylcholine or catecholamines. As discussed below, such actions are due to a direct effect of the peptide on the effector organ or to an indirect action through stimulation of the motor nerves or liberation of chemical transmitters at nerve endings. A brief description of these actions shall be given here. [Pg.497]
