Ti-silicate materials were prepared utilising automated robotic equipment. The preparation required three steps (1) gel synthesis, (2) material crystallization under hydrothermal conditions, and (3) post-synthesis treatment that includes at least one of calcination, organic extraction and silylation. 

The gel synthesis operation was carried out using an in-house built robotic system (Fig. 5.2), which can perform automatically the following routines  

Dosing of liquid reagents using syringes (range 10-5000 mg). 

Dosing of solid reagents (powders) employing a novel weighting procedure (20-1000 mg).
