Casting single-base

Single-base casting powder the casting powder consists of nitrocellulose, stabilizer, solid additives for ballistic modification, and a small amount of plasticizer. The normal ratio of casting powder to casting solvent, 2 1 by volume, yields a final composition of approximately 60% nitrocellulose. [Pg.10]

Triacetin has been used as a solvent for acetocellulose and as a plasticizer in the pyroxylin industry (Ref 5). It was patented by Hale Cameron (Ref 3) as a flash reducing agent in NC propellants. According to Ref 4, triacetin acts as a gelatinizing and waterproofing agent. It has been used successfully as plasticizer and coolant in single-base propellants and in cast doublebase propellants (see Note)... [Pg.32]

Nitrocelluloses (Shokamen), such as described in Vol 2 of Encycl under CELLULOSE, were used in NC Propellants (Shokayaku) or Single-Base Proplnts. See under PROPELLANTS 7350m/sec for cast (Shimose) vs 6900 for TNT Impact Sensitivity by BurMinesApp with 2-kg weight 85cm vs 100 for TNT [AMCP 706-177 (1971), p 288]. Used by the Japanese Army as a press-loaded Booster Charge in Bombs, Shells,... [Pg.493]

Some information based on the description by Steiiiberger and Orechse [40] is given here. They give the composition of single base, double base and coiii-pi>sile cast propellants in Table 123. [Pg.656]

A series of aggregation structures of bilayer forming azobenzene amphiphiles, CnAzoCmN+Br, both in single crystals and cast films was determined by the X-ray diffraction method and uv-visible absorption spectroscopy. From the relationship between chemical structures and their two-dimensional supramolecular structure, factors determining the molecular orientation in bilayer structure were discussed. Some unique properties based on two-dimensional molecular ordering were also discussed. [Pg.50]

Structural characterizations of the immobilized bilayer assemblies are essential for the molecular design of the functional materials. On the bases of the systematic crystallographic investigation of single crystals of double-chain ammonium amphiphiles [9], Okuyama wrote a computer simulation program for the calculation of bilayer structures in cast bilayer films and bilayer thicknesses estimated from the repeating period in the X-ray diffraction data have been exclusively used for structural discussions [10,11]. [Pg.50]
