Carotenoids excentric cleavage

Two other catalysts 38 and 39 were synthesized and employed for excentric cleavage. Best results were obtained with 39 for which attack at excentric double bonds of a diphenyl carotenoid 40 was observed, albeit with low selectivity (Fig. 16).
