At this point, it is worth mentioning that the possibility exists to assemble mainchain hydrogen-bonded polymers from covalent polymers with sticky ends. For example, Lenz et al. have proposed that the liquid-crystalline behavior of polymeric glycols terminated with diacids might be explained by dimerization of the carboxylic-acid termini [38].
