Carbon labeled benzo pyrene

Culture conditions were the same as those described in ref. 2, except that supplemental glucose (56 mM) was added to each culture after 30 days of incubation and incubations were continued for a total of 60 days. The C02 evolution assay was performed as described in ref. 2. DDT, 2,3,7,8-TCDD, 3,4,3, 4 -TCB, 2,4,5,2 ,4 -5 HCB, biphenyl, Aroclor 1242, Aroclor 1254, pentachlorophenol and hexachlorobenzene were uniformly labeled ( C) in aromatic ring carbons atoms. Lindane, Chlordane and Mlrex were uniformly labeled ( C). Benzo[a]pyrene was labeled ( C) in the 7 and 10 position. Except for hexachlorobenzene (purity 96 ), the radiochemical purity of the compounds used in this study was 97 or better.
