Carbon hydrogen bending aromatic compounds

The absorptions due to the out-of-plane bending of aromatic compounds depend on the substitution pattern. The C—H bonds on adjacent carbon atoms bend out of the plane of the aromatic ring in unison. Table 2.4 lists absorptions as a function of the number of adjacent hydrogen atoms. [Pg.66]
