Canary dextrins

The product classification covering white dextrins includes a large number of products and a broad range of properties. It is generally marked by extremes of conversion from those that are only lightly converted to those that approach the very highly converted character of the canary dextrins. [Pg.568]

Yellow, or canary, dextrins, formed when starch is heated at higher temperatures (150-220°) in the presence of acidic catalysts for longer times (6-18 hr.). The product then has a yellow to brownish color. [Pg.484]

Canary dextrin, yellow dextrin. Hydrolyzed at high temp for long period of time in the presence of small amts of acid. Light brown to yellow color, slight odor. Low viscosity very sol in cold water. [Pg.465]

Dextrins are degradative products of starch obtained by heating starch in the presence or absence of hydrolytic agents. Typical conditions for the white and yellow (canary) dextrins are shown in the following table. [Pg.167]
