Calcium hypochlorite analysis

From X ray analysis it is seen that bleaching powder is a complex mixture of basic calcium hypochlorite and calcium chloride Ca(0Cl)2Ca(0H)2CaCl22H20. [Pg.95]

Further chlorination converts basic hypochlorite to hypochlorite Ca(C10)j4H20. Bleaching Powder is thus considered a mixture of calcium hypochlorite arid basic calcium chloride i.e., Ca(Cl0)y4H20 and CaCl Ca(OH) fO. This is in good agreement with microscopic and X-ray analysis of the substance. This has been further confirmed by phase rule study. [Pg.97]
