Calcitonin placebo-controlled trial

In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial 22% of 1255 postmenopausal women taking calcitonin compared with 15% of women taking placebo had rhinitis (nasal congestion, discharge, or sneezing) (12). Almost all cases were of mild to moderate severity. 

Placebo-controlled studies The tolerability of oral salmon calcitonin 0.6 or 0.8 mg bd for 14 days in combination with 5-CNAC (8-(N-2-hydroxy-5-chloro-benzoyl)-amino-caprylic acid) 200 g has been examined in a randomized placebo-controlled trial in 73 subjects the oral doses were well tolerated [2 ].
