Take care in preparing bubblers and impingers to see that frits or tips are not damaged and that joints can be securely tightened. 

Stability of 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo- >-dioxin Towards Air Oxidation Under Simulated Conditions. Air was bubbled through two borosilicate glass gas absorption bottles equipped with fritted glass bubblers. The first bottle contained 1-octanol for presaturation of the air, and the second bottle contained 1-octanol solutions of the dioxin treated as follows (1) octanol only, (2) octanol mixed with 74-105ju, glass beads to increase the surface area, and (3) octanol mixed with magnesium oxide to simulate a basic soil. The original solution and the sample solutions were scanned with a UV spectrophotometer at various time intervals for 4 days to determine the stability of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin. 

In the process shown in Figure 10-9 the phosgene is fed from the container through a valve into a fritted glass bubbler in the reactor. The reflux condenser condenses aniline vapors and returns them to the reactor. A caustic scrubber is used to remove the phosgene and HC1 vapors from the exit vent stream. The complete process is contained in a hood.

Collection. Formic acid in diluted (1 10) diesel exhaust or mine air was collected by drawing the sample atmosphere through two fritted bubblers (10) in series, each containing 15 mL of 10 3 M Na2C03. A flow rate of 1.0 liter per minute and collection time of 60 minutes for diluted diesel exhaust or 240 minutes for mine air was used. A 37 mm glass fiber filter (Gelman Type A/E) was placed before the bubblers to remove particulates.
