Giordano Bruno (1548-1600 CE) was a member of the Dominican order. His views on atoms had both metaphysical and physical aspects atoms are both the ultimate, indeterminate, substance of things and a hypothesis that can be used to explain variety in the material world (even though only earth, among the four elements, has atoms).
