2- Bromo-4-oxopentanoic acid

Two of the more unusual bromoacids include the bromo-oxoacids 3,3-dibromo-4-oxopentanoic acid and 3-bromo-3-chloro-4-oxopentanoic acid. So far, there are no quantitative data on these other brominated acids, but preliminary toxicity data indicate that they may be toxicologically important. [Pg.110]

A related method also involved an a-bromo-ketone. Succinic acid derivative ij.151) was brominated and then converted to the phthalimidoyl derivative 1.152). Acid hydrolysis gave ethyl S-amino-4-oxopentanoate, 1.153. Alkyl substituents can be incorporated into the backbone of oxo-amino acids by simple modification of the method just described. [Pg.29]
