In the case of a three-roll calender, an alteration to the fabric nip does not affect the rubber layer thickness, since it is a movement of the bottom roll in relation to the fixed bearing middle roll. With a four-roll calender the stack or the breast roll type where the two top rolls are adjustable, the opening or closing of the fabric nip does, in practice, frequently result in a disturbance of the top roller nip. [Pg.222]

Suction rolls, which have an open shell of different design. Vacuum is applied through the interior. They are used in sheet formation as suction breast rolls, suction formers, suction forming roUs, or suction rolls at the end of the wire section. Du et al. (50-52) reported no differences in TBARS between irradiated and nonirradiated chicken breast fillets and chicken and turkey rolls. As dietary CLA increased, however, the TBARS values of chicken rolls decreased. This could be caused by the decreased unsaturated fatty acid content in meat after dietary CLA treatment (53).
