Bratton-Marshall test

When CO2 and aspartate were omitted from the system in addition to formate, a second aromatic amine accumulated, as shown by a Bratton-Marshall test color different from that given with phosphoribosyl aminoimidazole carboxamide. This amine was identified as phosphoribosyl aminoimidazole. These reaction sequences were then dissected to reveal their component parts. [Pg.107]

Detection of Benzodiazepines in Urine This test relies on die hydrolysis ofbenzodiazepines or their metabolites to the corresponding amino-benzophenones. The product is extracted, chromatographed, and detected by the formation of an azodye (Bratton Marshall reaction). [Pg.10]

Dibarium salt, C Hj Ba-N O P. uv max (pH I) 269, 244 nm (e 11,850, 9580). If the Bratton -Marshall procedure [J. Biol. Chem. 128, 537 (1939)] is modified by keeping the sample in ice during, and for 10 minutes after the addition of the reagents, SAICAR produces a purple chromophore having max absorption at 550 nm. The diazonium salt of SAICAR is very unstable and dec before it can couple under the usual test conditions. [Pg.1322]

The method of Bratton and Marshall was developed for the estimation of sulphonamides in body fluids for mixtures in which the concentration of sulphonamides is sufficiently large (this also generally applies to urine) the determination is done as for the filtrate in the method described below. The absence of substances such as local anaesthetics, which would give the same colour reaction as the sulphonamides, must be ascertained. To determine the total drug if conjugated sulphonamides are present a portion of the prepared test solution must be hydrolysed by heating on a water-bath for one hour in 0-2N hydrochloric acid and subsequent adjustment to volume. The following method is that applied to blood ... [Pg.609]
