Branch support

Cochrane Centres (some of which have additional branches) support people in their geographic and linguistic area (www.cochrane.org/contact/ entities.htm centres). Employees at Big Bank would agree that part-timers and those in less prestigious positions were often overlooked. Said a branch support person, The support people are considered second class citizens. Those at Big Bank who didn t do sales, but supported work in the branches, felt little celebration of their efforts. Like the Big Store part-timer who was surprised at being recognized, we found that certain classes of employees were valued differently. 

The Hypnidae and hypnodendroid pleurocarps together constitute a monophyletic group, though with at best a moderate branch support value (D1 = 3, bootstrap = 59%) ...

In Bayesian analysis GTR+I+G model of nucleotide substitutions with four rate categories was used. Four Metropolis-coupled MCMC chains were run from randomly chosen starting trees for 3000000 generations, trees were saved once every 10 generations, 114000 first trees were ignored. The other options retained default values. Majority-rule consensus trees were constructed and Bayesian posterior probabilities as branch support values were calculated. This analysis will be referred to as MB144 where based on dataset 1, and as MB135 where based on dataset 2. 

On the other side, maximum likelihood tree (out of 211 tested) placed Australian C. phalaridis basal to the group 2, whereas American C. paspali and C. citrina were closer to the ancestors of group 1. The branches with zero length were collapsed to polytomies. The neighbor-joining tree resembles the ML tree (with the exception of C. phalaridis) and their log likelihoods were almost identical (ML=-990.245 NJ =-990.256). The NJ tree branches supported by less than 50% bootstraps were reduced to polytomies.
