Bottles returnable

Can the item be used in its present form without being subjected to a specialised recovery operation If so it may well not be a waste (e.g. bottles returned for refilling). 

Preparation of SchlfT s reagent. Method 1. Dissolve 0- 2 g. of pure p.rosaniline hydrochloride in 20 ml. of a cold, freshly-prepared, saturated aqueous solution of sulphur dioxide allow the solution to stand for a few hours until it becomes colourless or pale yellow. Dilute the solution to 200 ml. and keep it in a tightly, stoppered bottle. If the bottle is not adequately stoppered, the reagent will gradually lose sulphur dioxide and the colour wUl return. The solution keeps well if not unnecessarily exposed to light and air. 

Two types of glass beer bottles today are the returnable bottle and the one-way or lightweight bottle. The one-way bottles are used ia many countries but they are chiefly used for export because of their light weight and smaller size. In many countries return botdes are preferred because they are cheaper ia the long mn and better for the environment. 

Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) bottles have been used for some time as an alternative to glass and aluminum. At first one-way bottles ia different sizes were used returnable PET-botfles of reasonable quaUty have been marketed. In the future, returnable PET-botfles will be used. The first examples of total production lines have been exhibited, ie, blow-form-fill-seal ia an extra superblock constmction.

Figure 15.4 shows a procedure for the refilling of returnable containers with a chemical of assured quality. (This will require some combination of documentation, sampling and analysis to ensure that the chemical is of the correct type, and in the intended condition.) This is applicable to drums and plastic containers, and bottles, but some modifications are necessary for pressure systems, i.e. gas cylinders, covered by the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 including ... 

Carefully return the three solutions to their correct storage bottles.
