Asslani et al.ul have described the synthesis of the tetrakis(pyrazolyl)borate complexes [ZrCl2(BPz4)2], [ZrBr2(BPz4)2] and [Zr(BPz4)4]. Analytical and H NMR data were reported for these compounds, but Reger and Tarquini115 have been unable to reproduce the NMR data. 

The effect of neutral salts (e.g., NaCl) on the composition of borates precipitated from, or in equilibrium with, aqueous solutions doubtless arises from a reduction in water activity, metal borate complexation, and a shift in polyborate equilibria (Sections IV,A, B). The "indifferent or inert component method has frequently been used for the synthesis of borates. Potassium and sodium chlorides can be used to enhance the precipitation of specific nickel (48), aluminum (51), iron (49), and magnesium (151) borates. In the K20-B203-H20 system at 25°C (248), the presence of potassium chloride results in a reduced boric acid crystallization curve, lower borate solubilities, lower pH, and an extended B203 K20 range over which the pentaborate crystallizes.

Organoboranes can be used for the synthesis of various organic compounds containing an amino group . The most common procedures involve the reaction of organoboranes with azides, with hydroxylamine derivatives, or with chloroamines. The typical synthesis of the intermediate 245 can be carried out by two routes (i) preparation from 3-chloro-4-fluoroaniline 248 and malonate 249 through the formation of 250 and 251 (Scheme 12.60) (ii) preparation from 2,4-dichloro-5-fluorobenzoyl chloride 252 and enamine 253 or CH2(C02Et)2 (Scheme 12.61). Heravi et al. have prepared 243 through borate complexes after formation of 245. In this method, 245 was converted to borate complex, which was treated with 244 in the presence of triethylamine to afford 243 in high yields (Scheme 12.62).
