Bonds to Chlorine and Iodine

Bonds to Chlorine and Iodine.— The first band in the photoelectron spectrum of NSCl has been assigned to an ionization process involving the 16a ( r) orbital. Detonation velocities of N3CI have n studied.  [Pg.466]

Conditions have been reported for the preparation of iV-di-iodomethyl-amine and iV-iododimethylamine. I.r. spectral evidence suggests a polymeric structure for the di-iodomethylamine adducts with nitrogen donors such as CH8NH2,but iododimethylamine is thought to be monomeric. I.r. measurements for i Nl3,i NH3 . pyridine and i Nl3,i ND3 have [Pg.466]

Element.— The bonding in P4 and the unstable nitrogen analogue, N4, has been studied by ab initio and semi-empirical SCF-MO calculations. The former show that P4 is stable with respect to 2P2 by 35 kcal mol while N4 is unstable by 126 kcal mol when compared with 2N2. INDO calculations on the other hand predict that in both cases the tetra-atomic species would be the more stable. Photoelectron spectra of P4 can be interpreted on either model and inclusion of M orbitals is not considered to add significantly to the description of the bonding in P4. [Pg.466]
