Blocking agents reversible

In certain cases, even dimers of certain isocyanates, such as toluene diisocyanate or hexamethylene diisocyanate, can act as blocking agents, thermally reversing to regenerate the isocyanate [16,17]. 

Methyl methanethiosulfonate (MMTS) is a small reversible blocking agent for sulfhydryl groups (Thermo Fisher, Toronto Research). It reacts with free thiols to form a dithiomethane modification with release of sulfinic acid (Figure 1.122). The sulfinic acid component decomposes into volatile products, which don t affect the disulfide formed from the MMTS reaction Alkylthiosulfonates react rapidly with thiols under mild conditions at physiological pH. Neuromuscular blocking agents Do not use flumazenil until the effects of neuromuscular blockade have been fully reversed. 

It is indicated in bronchial asthma and reversible bronchospasm associated with chronic bronchitis and pulmonary emphysema, including bronchospasm due to the use of b-blocking agents. 

Glucagon is sometimes useful for reversing the cardiac effects of an overdose of B-blocking agents because of its ability to increase cAMP production in the heart. However, it is not clinically useful in the treatment of cardiac failure.
