Biopharmaceutic classifications system category

Based on their solubility and intestinal permeability characteristics, drugs have been classified into one of four categories according to the Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS) proposed by Amidon et al. [49]. 

The Committee decided that in cases where the disintegration time is less than 10 minutes (non-rifampicin-containing products), a dissolution test would normally not be necessary depending on the biopharmaceutics classification system (BCS) category.
