Biomolecules chemical attributes

A diverse range of bioanalytical techniques have been used to study the basic composition and characteristics of biomolecules. Typically these techniques focus on measures of distinct physical and/or chemical attributes, to identify and determine... [Pg.4]

Chromatography is the most widely used separation technique in hioanalytical chemistry. There are several different modes of chromatography that are based on different physical and chemical attributes of biomolecules, which include separation based on ionic charge, solute partitioning, molecular size, and adsorption properties. Subsequent sections provide more information on the different modes of chromatography and their application. [Pg.142]

Each test method relies on one or more chemical and/or physical attributes of a biomolecule for detection and/or quantification. It is obviously impossible to captiue the sheer number of diverse methods that are used in biological, biomedical and environmental testing in this textbook. However, many of these methods... [Pg.33]

Characterization and control of biological macromolecules requires a variety of analytical tools for detection of chemical and structural modifications. Attachment of a PEG moiety to the biomolecule results in an additional layer of complexity and often requires a unique set of analytical tools to ensure quality and control. In developing PEGylated biomolecules, three key attributes must be controlled to achieve the desired product PEG reagent quality, PEGylation chemistry and stability of the PEG moiety post conjugation. Each of these is described in detail in the following sections. [Pg.396]
