Biochemical analysis, Review articles

Perturbation mechanisms for the various acoustic devices were discussed in general terms in Chapter 3. In this chapter, these mechanisms are reviewed specifically in the context of chemical and biochemical analysis. Performance criteria are discussed, and the fundamental coating-analyte interactions giving rise to sensor responses are presented as a basis for classification. Relevant physical and chemical models of these interactions are described, and examples of analytical applications employing each type of interaction are given to illustrate their advantages and limitations. While references have been included to illustrate specific points, this chapter is not intended to comprise an exhaustive review of the literature, particularly for TSM resonators, for which the number of references is far too great to be fully reviewed here. For more detailed information on the diversity of sensor applications, the reader is referred to the many review articles that have been published on these topics [2-8,13-15]. [Pg.223]

The examples of SERS and SERRS measurements in the biochemical field reviewed in this article were selected to illustrate the sensitivity, molecular specificity of adsorption process, accuracy, ease of sample preparation, and significant manifold apphcations of Raman analysis by SERS and SERRS for biomolecules in the adsorbed state. [Pg.52]

General considerations concerning stability analysis of biochemical reaction systems have been presented by Stucki (1978). The problem of monostability, bistability, and multiplicity (multiple steady state) is further discussed in review articles and books (Aris and Humphrey, 1977 Bergter, 1972 Chi et al., 1974 Fiechter, 1982 Gutke and Knorre, 1980 Knorre, 1980 Koga and Humphrey, 1967 Prokop, 1978 Romanovsky et al., 1974 Russell and Tanner, 1978 Yang and Humphrey, 1975 Yano and Koga, 1973). [Pg.321]

Critical Reviews in Analytical Chemistry, CRC Press, Boca Raton, FL. This publication appears quarterly and provides in-depth articles covering the newest developments in the analysis of biochemical substances. [Pg.1053]
