Ethylene sulfide has been employed as an intermediate in poly meric compositions from cryanamide,70 biguanide,78 and guanylurea,71 which are claimed to be UBeful aa insecticides, rubber addenda, and dehairing agents. 

The close relationship between biguanide and guanylurea is evident from their formation from one and the same source material, dicyandiamide, by its union with a molecule of water and one of ammonia respectively (Scheme 2). 

Cationic boron(m) chelates, formulated as (30), can be prepared by transamination reactions between B(NEt2)3 and biguanides, followed by treatment with HC1.178 Similar guanylurea derivatives can also be obtained. 

In view of the presence of active functional groups at suitable sites in the above ligands and their substituted derivatives, these tend to form coordination compormds/chelates with a large number of metals. Excellent reviews have been published on the complex compounds of biguanides and guanylureas, and biuret.
