Bible Authorised Version

See MW, vii i5o, where Bunyan remarks that in some of your old Bibles, that which in one place is called a Target, in another is called, a Shield . In 2 Chronicles 14 8, the Geneva Bible has shields where the Authorised Version has targets . For the reference to Tyndale, see MW, xii 27, 426n. 

The Apocrypha was included in the Geneva Bible and in the Authorised Version in the seventeenth century, and indeed right up until the 18 20s, when the British and Foreign Bible Society decided to exclude it from all the editions it distributed, and it came to be omitted more generally.
