Bias tape

Sewing tape comes in several different forms, and serves a variety of functions. The three most common types of sewing tape are hemming tape, bias tape and stitch tape. Hemming tape is frequently used to hem a garment when a perfectly flat hem is necessary (pair of cuffed pants). [Pg.269]

Use this technique if you don t have much fabric to invest in the hem. It generally can be done with only a %-inch fabric loss. The bias tape used here will bend around curved edges, providing a polished, finished look. [Pg.134]

Particles with lengths of ca. 0.6 pm are used in computer tapes these account for 25 % of the acicular maghemite that is produced. Other applications of this material include low bias audio cassettes and studio and broadcasting tapes. [Pg.517]

Properties. Pigments with a coercive field strength of 50-56 kA/m are used in video cassettes, high-bias audio cassettes (chromium dioxide operating point IEC II), and high-density floppy disks. Depending on the quality of the tape, the particle size varies between 0.2 and 0.4 pm (see Section 5.1.1, Table 36). [Pg.184]

A further bias in determining dermatopharmacokinetics may originate from imprecise repetitive application of the tape on the skin being stripped. The use of a thin template to delimit the skin area is a simple way to keep the tape stripping area constant and unchanged during the entire tape stripping procedure. [Pg.459]

Bias binding is used as a decorative finish for the raw edges of a fabric and is used either for hemming or as a form of a bound seam where the ends of the fabric are tucked within a tape, so that no raw ends are exposed (Figure 10.46). [Pg.269]
