Benzene nuclear shielding

Cemusak et al have used the Coupled HF method to study ring currents in six cyclic isomers of (CH)2B2N2. Correlated calculations show that all six have planar structures and Tt-electron diamagnetic ring currents. The nuclear shielding produced by the ring current is compared with that of benzene. [Pg.303]

Another index of delocalization, devised and widely applied by Schleyer et al.,163 is the nuclear-independent chemical shielding (NICS) value. When calculated above the ring, this value corresponds to the -contribution which is a significantly negative quantity for situations with aromatic delocalization . Scheme 21 shows the A and NICS values computed by Schleyer et al.141 for benzene, hexasilabenzene, and hexazine. The three species are seen to possess equally aromatic electron sextets, as indeed anticipated from the appreciable vertical resonance ener-... [Pg.15]

Mw=1.2xl0 with broad molecular weight distributions (PDI 6) has been reported by the free radical polymerization of vinylruthenocene in benzene with AIBN as the initiator 43]. The polymers were proposed to possess a branched structure as a result of chain-transfer steps. Copolymers with other organic vinyl monomers have also been prepared [43]. Poly(vinylruthenocene) and poly(vinylosmocene) have been tested as preheat shields for targets in inertial[Pg.48]
