BRN. The Beilstein Registry Number, which can be used to access structures in the Beilstein database. 

By searching other key fields, such as the molecular formula, the CAS registry number or the molecular, structure-related Beilstein Registry Number (Beilstein Prime Key). 

QS RANGE n QS R n QS RANGE 20000 QS R 20000 Searches a range of 100,000 consecutive Beilstein Registry numbers beginning with n. In the example, the records in the range of BN=20000 through BN=119999 are searched. 

QS n QS 1733531 Searches for the stereoisomers of the substance identified by BN=/ . The system uses the entered Beilstein Registry Number and the corresponding Chemical Name to identify the created set. In the example, BN=1733531, CN=L> LYSINE, the created set includes four records one for the entered isomer and others for BN=1722530, CN=D-LYSINE, BN=1722532, CN=DL-LYSINE, and BN-1616991, CN=LYSINE (stereoisomers of unknown configuration).

Stereo isomers and tautomers are given different Beilstein Registry Numbers (BRN), i.e. cis-, trans-, keto- and enol forms are characterized individually by their Beilstein Registry Number.
