Behaviour modification for employees

Behaviour shaping is a task that managers must perform. Emplo5dng people to undertake tasks for the benefit and prosperity of the enterprise for which they receive a reward (an income) is itself behaviour shaping. 

Management gurus have been active in exploring techniques which will improve performance of groups and individuals to achieve business goals. One approach has been termed Performance Management which considers four responses to a behaviour. These responses are termed positive, negative, punishment and extinction.  

In Positive Reinforcement the individual receives something that is wanted or valued after the proper behaviour is completed. Reinforcements of this type encourage the behaviour to be repeated in the future. 

This approach has also been applied to safety situations by Krause et al.
