In this example, we will consider the insertion of an electrode into the basolateral amygdaloid nucleus. Figure 31 shows that the center of the basolateral amygdaloid nucleus is 6.2 mm anterior to the interaural line, 1.5 mm dorsal to it, and 5.0 mm lateral to the midline. The nucleus is 2.8 mm posterior to bregma, 8.5 mm ventral to it, and 5.0 mm lateral to the midline.

In the amygdaloid nucleus, moderately to intensely glutaminase-immunoreactive neurons were found in the basolateral nucleus, and weakly immunoreactive neurons were observed in the anterior, anterior cortical and lateral nuclei.
