Baseline Shift by Adsorption of Molecules and Ions

The basehne of a surface spectram (i.e., the reflectivity of the electrode) is shifted by the adsorption of molecules and ions, and also by the surface oxidation [4, 15, 33, 43, 81-84]. SEIRAS is more sensitive than IRAS for the baseline shift because the enhanced absorption of adsorbed species is observed in SEIRAS through the reflectance change of the metal, as described in Section [Pg.285]

The analysis of the baseHne shift can provide some additional information on the interaction between molecules and the electrode as follows. [Pg.286]
