The cathode material, Lao.. i(Sro,4oFeo.8oCoo.2o03.6 was synthesized by spray drying method. After calcination and ball-milling, the cathode powder was screen printed on a 5x5 cm half cell with a electroMe prepared by sol-gel method, using an ethyl cellulose binder and a terpineol-based solvent . The area of the cathode layers was 4x4 cm with a thickness of about 50 pm. The cathode was dried and no sinter process was carried out before the electrochemical cell test. [Pg.166]

The obtained a-PbO particles are of median diameter of 0.530 pm [26]. Karami and collaborators [27] conducted the chemical reactions in the presence of ultrasonic waves (sono-chemical method) with the aim to reduce the size of the resultant particles. Under these conditions, a-PbO particles of 20—40 nm particle size are obtained. The thus synthesised PbO powder is used for the manufacture of positive plates for small laboratory test cells. Commercial negative plates are used as counter-electrodes. The test cells are set to cycling along with analogous cells assembled with commercial plates prepared with ball mill leady oxide. Figure 5.16 presents the obtained cycling test results for the two types of cells. [Pg.249]

Tungsten carbide based non-Pt electrocatalyst have been evaluated for single cell performance of PEMFC. The power densities of WC/C (1 mg/cm ) and Ni-WC/C (1 mg/cm ) anodes fabricated by TPRe were 6.5 and 8.9 mW/cm, respectively, cathode of 20 wt% Pt and membrane of Naflon 117 (151). W2C (0.48 mg/cm ) anode catalyst was prepared by ball-milling of WO3, Mg, and C mixture and tested in a single cell mode at 80°C with Pt/C cathode (0.3 mg/cm ), Naflon 112 membrane, and H2/Air = 5. This electrocatalyst produced high current densities of 240 mA/cm (at 2 atm) and 280 mA/cm (at 3 atm) at 0.5 V, and an open circuit voltage of 0.95 V(152). These values represent the highest current density reported for WC-based anode in the literature. In the analysis, the material... [Pg.1393]
