Balling. Balling is a measure of the sugar concentration in a grain mash, expressed in degrees. It approximates percent by weight of the sugar in solution. [Pg.80]

BBMCA rule (c) in figure 6.12 allows for ball-mirror collisions to mimic their classical incarnations. Figure 6.16, for example, shows a collision between a (two-particle) ball and an 8-particle mirror. Notice that, just as for the ball-ball collision shown earlier in figure 6.14, a slight time-delay is again introduced. [Pg.321]

Fig. 6.17 Two-mirror configuration that acts as a 2-block delay to an incoming ball ball s motion follows sequence of arrows. Fig. 6.17 Two-mirror configuration that acts as a 2-block delay to an incoming ball ball s motion follows sequence of arrows.

If one-step crushing (primary) is done, then the resulting particles are rather coarse. In order to produce finer particles, the crushing operation usually has to be repeated (secondary), or the material is subjected to grinding. This is the reduction of a material to a powdery state (pulverization) in devices based on friction (such as millstones ) or concussion or abrasion with metal balls (ball grinders), or pebbles (pebble grinders)... [Pg.347]

John C. Ball, Ball Resource Services Ltd., Delta, BC, Canada. John C. Ball has not given any details about where exactly he took his samples, nor what kind of material it was. According to his own description, at least the samples from the delousing rooms of BW 5a and BW 5b consist of a mixture of material taken at various places of these rooms, both inside and outside. Hence, the same might be true for his other samples. For this reason, we will only briefly list Ball s analyses results here without going into too many details about how they are to be interpreted. [Pg.246]

Size of Balls.—Balls from 1 to 7 in. in diameter are used. In a given mill the size of balls should be determined largely by the size and hardness of the ore. Best results seem to be obtained when the mill is loaded between three-tenths and two-fifths full. [Pg.208]

The material to be ground fills the voids between the grinding media, and the rotation of the shell results in a tumbling or cascading motion of the grinding media, which captures particles in ball-ball or ball-liner contacts... [Pg.117]

The characteristics of commercially obtained starting powders are listed in Table 1. After weighing and ultrasonic dispersion, raw powders were milled in a QM-1SP planetary ball mill. Blending was done at 180-200 rpm with WC-Co balls (ball-to-powder weight ratio, 7 1) for 24 h in ethanol bath. Then, the slurry mixture was dried for 12 h at the temperature of 80 C, after which dried powders were sieved... [Pg.42]
