Reaction with Sodium Azide and Manganese Triacetate... 

The reaction of nitrido(5,10,15,20-tetramesity]porphyrinato) manganese(V) (TMPMn = N), obtained by photolysis of the azide (TMPMnN,) with excess trifluoroacetic anhydride, afforded, in situ, the trifluoroacetylimidomanganese(V) trifluoroacetate which reacted with cyclooctene to give the corresponding AT-trifluoroacetyl aziridine l97. 

In the case where the use of mbberized cloth bags had been permitted in lieu of polyethylene material, analyses showed the presence of high concentrations of hydrolysis products and products of reaction with the drum in all regions of the drum. Electron paramagnetic resonance measurements showed the presence of iron and manganese in the lead azide lattice, although similar measurements on recently manufactured azide showed only trace amounts of iron and no manganese. The lead azide assay was also low. 

Other oxidative double bond azidations have been reported. Thus an azidohydrin was formed from pregnenolone acetate and chromyl azide (NaNs, Chromium(VI) Oxide) and steroidal dienones reacted with TMSNs/Leadf/V) Acetate to give diazido compounds. Vicinal diazides also result from alkenes and Fe Manganese(IH) Acetate (eq 9), or lodosylbenzene and NaNs. Anti-Markovnikov selenoazido products were prepared from the reaction of azide ion with alkenes and (Diace-toxyiodo)benzene/Diphenyl Diselenide (eq 10) a-keto azides (with TMSN3) are formed without PhSeSePh. ... 

Martin [126] prepared nickel, cobalt, zinc and manganese azides by the action of an ether solution of hydrazoic acid on the dry metal carbonate. Cuprous azide, CuN3, was obtained in the form of a light grey sediment by the reaction of sodium azide with a solution of cuprous sulphate.
