Available work real column

A wealth of advanced information is available on the fundamentals of LC separations and perhaps even more information is available on practical LC/MS. Recently, there has been a real shift in focus toward very fast separations (Hsieh and Korfmacher, 2006). A significant portion of this focus has been directed toward the measurement of productivity in terms of the plate height of the column, which in many ways may not provide a true representation of productivity. In reality, resolution per unit time is a more accurate representation of separation and productivity. Therefore, if the analyte is resolved, then the work is done.
