Autonomous individual

The secularized world of modernism made the autonomous individual or community the subject of knowledge, the source of values, the possessor of rights and the focus of utility. 

In essence, power today engages with many aspects of existence. Of course, to exist as power as opposed to objective freedom, power must, not just autonomize/individualize but also, totalize. Systems forging integration ... 

The view of the teacher as expert also tends to reinforce the image of the teacher as an autonomous individual. As a possession, knowledge also implies territorial rights, which become naturalized by the compartmentalization of the curriculum. The cultural myth of teachers as experts, then, contributes to the reification of both knowledge and the knower (Britzman, 1986, pp. 450-451). 

Autonomic neuropathy is also a common complication as DM progresses. Clinical presentation of autonomic neuropathy may include gastroparesis, resting tachycardia, orthostatic hypotension, impotence, constipation, and hypoglycemic autonomic failure. Therapy for each individual autonomic complication is addressed separately.
