Authority, and power

Many people believe that psi abilities per se are a manifestation of some sort of higher force or spirituality. Thus, if a person does something apparently psychic, he is given great authority and power. Others believe that psi manifestations are a manifestation of primitive or evil forces and so people associated with them are automatically thought to be primitive or insane or wicked. I would prefer the metaphysical theories that see psi as a manifestation of higher forces and claim that they... 

The fiat monetary standard grants the government the authority and power to treat paper money as legal tender, letting the quantity of legal tender increase... 

Zilboorg s method for establishing insanity is the same as the inquisitor s for establishing witchcraft each proclaims that his subject suffers from the feared condition and uses his authority and power to transform his judgment into social reality. On the basis of this kind of evidence Zilboorg concludes that .. . no doubt... 

Line functions and staff functions within the organisation have to be clearly identified. Line is associated with process flow. Line functions have direct responsibility and have the authority and power for realising the mission of the company. Knowledge of reporting lines is useful. Staff supplies information, materials and advices to the line . Staff functions are e.g. counselling on human resources, on procedures, on analytical methods and on systems, on managing a science based service department handling medical information, complaints and recall. A QP or hospital pharmacist may have both line and staffs function(s). 

Demands for more say in corporate decision making at their roots pose questions over the use of authority and power by management and individuals. 

Power. The independent commission will not have the power to implement their recommendations. Authority and power are, however, important in another respect. The commission should have full access to all relevant sources of information, including the right to interview personnel and consult written and electronic files at their discretion. 

Black emits a feeling of authority and power. Black business suits play on this feeling. This is often the color of cocktail party dresses, as it signifies glamour and expense.
