Australia refined consumption

The reactor off-gas typically has the following molar composition HCN = 25%, NH3 = 0.25%, H2 = 72%, and N2 = 3%. The HCN is separated from the off-gas for refining, and the hydrogen leaves the system as a byproduct together with a small amount of nitrogen and unreacted ammonia. The high electrical consumption ( 3 kWh/lb HCN) makes the process attractive only in locations where the cost of electricity is extremely low. In 2003 the Fluohmic process was used in Spain, Australia, and South Africa. [Pg.1070]
