These results are in good agreement with each other and with semi-empirical and ab initio calculations, and show the width W of the valence band spectrim to be 20 + l eV wide. If all the final state holes in polyethylene are uncorrelated, the experimental Auger spectrim should then be 2W 40 eV wide (see Figure 1).
