Atypical acinar cell nodules

Pancreas Foci of acinar cell alteration Hyperplastic nodules Atypical acinar cell nodules... [Pg.450]

Differences between rat strains in their susceptibility to pancreas-specific venular permeability induced by intravenous monastral blue B administration may play a role in differences in their susceptibilities to development of islet inflammation and type 1 diabetes (Desemone et al., 1989). Rat strain, species, and sex differences were also demonstrated for susceptibility to azaserine-induced atypical acinar cell nodules (AACN) that are preneoplastic lesions that may develop into adenomas and carcinomas. The W/LEW and Wistar rat strains were highly responsive to nodule induction with 100% and 90% induction rates, respectively, whereas F344 rats were less susceptible and developed about 10% as many AACN as the Wistar rats (Roebuck and Longnecker, 1977). [Pg.246]
