Attic Method and Traditional Approaches

Differences between the Attic Method and Traditional Approaches [Pg.363]

The Attic method differs from traditional methods in certain important ways. Five of them are reported hereinafter  [Pg.363]

1) The first difference is that the Attic method does not require the problem to be written in the standard form and therefore does not require the introduction of any additional variables. The number of rows and the number of columns from the matrix J used at each iteration in the Attic method are always equal to the number of variables, ny, obtained after the preprocessing. [Pg.363]

3) Also, all of the variables and all of the right-hand side terms of the constraints are no longer forced to be nonnegative. Nonnegativity constraints do not play a special role or one that is different to other bound constraints. [Pg.363]

Both the Simplex and the Interior Point families demand that the problem is formulated in a standard way. The problem must be formulated as follows  [Pg.363]
