Atomic resolution in the AFM

Small contact forces are desirable for soft materials even if they are not crystalline. An 

Molecular dynamics modeling of the interaction between a tip and the sample surface will provide a path to a better theoretical understanding of the imaging process [229]. At the present, most modeling deals with the interaction of well-defined surfaces of metals or diamond [230-232]. We look forward to such methods being applied to polymer surfaces.
