Considering 1 /3rd lesser neighbor interactions on the surface than in bulk, the detachment energy and its diffusion into the melt is likely to be 2.7 kJ/mol since the melting enthalpy of the bulk is 4.11 kJ/molCH2 a value obtained from the ATHAS data bank (http //web.utk.edu/ athas/databank/welcome-db.html). 

The complicated PVDF chain dynamics and the strong thermodynamic driving force to crystallize confer a complex set of intrinsic transitions as a function of temperature, which ultimately are reflected in the physical properties and behavior under various test conditions. The heat of fusion is approximately 100 J/g and depends upon the level of defects in the sample. Because the enthalpy is a function of state (see Chapter 3), the enthalpy function of the measured PET sample must coincide in the liquid state (above 250 °C) vith the enthalpy of amorphous PET from literature (ATHAS Databank, 2011). Wunderlich and his research group [see, e.g., Gaur and Wunderlich (1980, 1981) and Gaur et al. (1983)] collected a large amount of experimental data on heat capacity of various polymers, and these data were entered into the ATHAS databank (see http //athas.prz.rzeszow.pl/). They also performed theoretical heat capacity calculations for a number of polymers and compared them to experimental data.
