AT antagonists

Here, Km and Km are the equilibrium constants for the blocker at the two sites. In this situation, the Schild plot is not linear it has a slope of less than unity at antagonist concentrations around Kb (where KB = (KB1KB2)m) and tends to unity at high or at low antagonist concentrations (Colquhoun, 1986). 

Pharmacology Losartan, candesartan, irbesartan, olmesartan, telmisartan, eprosartan, and valsartan are angiotensin II receptor (type AT- ) antagonists.

Mechanism of Action An angiotensin II receptor, type AT, antagonist that blocks vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, inhibiting the binding of angiotensin II to the AT, receptors. Therapeutic Effect Causes vasodilation, decreases peripheral resistance, and decreases BP. 

The drugs of first choice in antihypertensive therapy are those that have been unambiguously shown in clinical studies to reduce mortality of hypertension—diuretics, ACE inhibitors and AT, antagonist, p-blockers, and calcium antagonists.
