ASPECTS OF INTERACTIONS INVOLVING MINOR ATMOSPHERIC COMPONENTS H2O AND HjS 

In the context of atmospheric photochemistry and physics, and of climate change, probably the most important interactions of a minor component is that of H2O and not only with N2, O2 and itself, but also with others species, giving rise to a variety of processes fhaf have received little attention and are not well understood. For recent quantum mechanical studies of water interactions with itself and with fluoromethanes, and of wafer dimers with CO, see papers in [64], which contain references to a large body of liferature. 

From the experimental viewpoint, molecular beam scattering measuring differential cross section had been reported by three different laboratories [74-76]. 

On the theoretical side the H20-He systems has a sufficiently small number of electrons to be tackled by the most sophisticated quantum-chemical techniques, and in the last two decades several calculations by various methods of electronic structure theory have been attempted [77-80]. More recently, new sophisticated calculations appeared in the literature they exploited combined symmetry - adapted perturbation theory SAPT and CCSD(T), purely ab initio SAPT [81,82], and valence bond methods [83]. A thorough comparison of the topology, the properties of the stationary points, and the anisotropy of potential energy surfaces obtained with coupled cluster, Moller-Plesset, and valence bond methods has been recently presented [83]. 

03 kj mol . Actually, this is quite an acceptable result for state-of-the-art ab initio calculations. Better performances are shown at shorter and larger distances. The nature of the interaction in the water-helium weakly bound complex is demonstrated to be essentially of the van der Waals type.
