Ascrobic acid

Toth, I., and Bridget, K. R. (1995). Ascrobic acid enhances ferritin mRNA translation by an IRP/aconit0se switch. /. Bioi Citem. 270, 19540-19544. [Pg.850]

Employing L-ascorbate oxidase, vitamin C (ascrobic acid) was determined in food samples between 0.05-0.6 mM [44]. In order to measure ethanol in beverages and blood samples, alcohol oxidase from Candida boidinii had been employed. Linearity was obtained between 0.01 and 1 mM. These measurements were also found to be useful in monitoring fermentation [47,48]. [Pg.25]

Roy, A. B., L-Ascrobic acid 2-sulfate-A substrate for mammaiian arylsulfatases. Biochim. Bi-ophys. Acta 377, 356-363 (1975). [Pg.199]

Spectrophotometric methods have been applied to inclusion complexes of a-and p-CDs with methyl orange (in the presence of alcohols). A report on a symposium on spectroscopic and thermodynamical studies of metal-amino sugar complexes was published. Electronic absorption and fluorescence spectra of L-ascrobic acid have been studied at a range of pH values. ... [Pg.341]

Ascorbic acid has a close relationship to adrenal cortical activity (Chapter 11). Stimulation of the adrenal cortex leads to depletion of ascorbic acid stores in the gland, but even in severe depletion cortical function is maintained. In conditions of stress and after administration of corticotropin, requirement and utilization of ascrobic acid is increased. It has been suggested that ascorbic acid is concerned in the oxidation of a precursor of some adrenal cortical steroid (Chapter 11). Pirani postulated that ascorbic acid may have a nonspecific function related to cellular respiratory activity and metabolic rate. [Pg.578]
