The shop was engaged in the business of operating game machines and a lunchroom, and in selling stationery, miscellaneous goods, and toy fireworks as seasonal items. The arrangement of goods in the shop was reported as illustrated in Fig.2.3. [Pg.65]

Fireworks are an aesthetic arrangement of various fire producing elements. People call these phenomena and often the articles which produce these phenomena "fireworks . The background of firework display is nature which is quite changeable and often disturbs the artistic effect of fireworks. Lance-vork is so popular that it readily comes to mind when we think of exhibition fireworks. The technique creates lines of fire by the linear arrangement of lances at short interrals. The technique is used to produce a portrait, a scene, letters etc. as it comes under the heading of illuminations. [Pg.266]

Some of the information on fireworks, both from Weingart and other sources, is found in Tenney Lombard Davis The Chemistry of Powder and Explosives, which is somewhat more accessible and also, notwithstanding its age, a mine of useful information on explosives. Izzo s book, written in Italian, is a rather condensed manual of fireworks, with emphasis on design of the more elaborate arrangements. [Pg.9]

The automation of firework production is something that has come only slowly. Paper caps are produced on automated machinery at a rate of 25 million a day, and machines are used to roll and label tubes, fill certain compositions, etc. The writer has not yet seen any machine that completely automates the production of any given firework and suspects that even if time and money were put into such a machine it could only be used for mixtures that were limited in sensitivity or simple in form. Filling machines and automatic presses are used in Europe, but friction occasionally causes explosions or fires. The machines are so arranged that they can be quickly cleaned and restarted. [Pg.132]

We have five kinds of sounds shooting and explosive sound, thunder report, whistle. and humming. When we arrange these sounds at proper time intervals, e.g. of 2 or seconds in the case of 6 inch shells, we can make the sounds into a rhythm to create firework music. In this case, the first three sounds play the role of percussion instruments. But to bring the five sounds into music, the time of ignition, delay, explosion and the period of the whistles and hummers must be accurately controlled.(See ). [Pg.18]

The larger Roman candles are fitted with plastic end-caps in the obvious interest of waterproofing, and the fuses are extended to include a piped match and a delay fuse. Display fireworks are often arranged as fans on a wooden framework or wrapped as bundles with an interconnecting fuse. [Pg.68]
